What SAMS Odisha covers

SAMS started in 2009-10 in 60 junior colleges and grew to cover all junior colleges by 2011-12, according to the official About page. It was planned jointly by the Higher Education Department and the IT Department, Government of Odisha, with IT support from OCAC. Today the SAMS home page lists many courses, including:

• Higher Secondary School (+2) and Correspondence (CHSE)
• Degree (+3) and Post Graduation (PG)
• B.Ed, B.H.Ed and M.Ed; 3 Year Integrated B.Ed-M.Ed; D.El.Ed
• ITI and Diploma (Polytechnic), plus two Post Diploma courses
• 3 Year LL.B., Physical Education, Music, Dance and Drama Education (+2), and Bachelor in Performing Arts

SAMS Odisha 2026 cycle at a glance

The table below covers the 2026-27 admission cycle. Dates marked official come from a government page or press note. Dates marked as reported come from news outlets, so confirm them on the official portal. Dates change every year, so treat this as a record of 2026, not a promise for 2027.

We could not confirm 2026 ITI dates on an official page. The official ITI key dates page still showed 2025 dates (CAF from 10 April 2025 to 20 June 2025) when checked.

After Class 10: +2 admission

Everyone who passed the High School Certificate (HSC) exam can apply for +2 (Class XI), says the official +2 FAQ. The CAF fee is Rs 200 for General and Rs 100 for ST/SC, and it is free for PwD (more than 40%), Transgender and Orphan applicants. You must choose at least five school and stream options. Admission runs in three steps: First Selection, Second Selection and Spot Admission (merit list, or ମେଧା ତାଲିକା).

As reported for 2026, about 5.99 lakh seats were available in 2,571 higher secondary schools across Arts, Science, Commerce, Vocational and Sanskrit (Upashastri) streams.

After Class 12: +3 degree admission

Degree (+3) admission covers BA, BSc, BCom, Shastri, the 5-year integrated BA LL.B. and self-financing courses. Under NEP 2020, the 2026 CAF offered Single Major with Two Minors, Double Major or Three Minors. After a seat is allotted you choose Freeze, Slide or Float, as the official +3 FAQ explains.

A big change in 2026: from 2026-27, students admitted to Regular Mode UG and PG courses through SAMS get free education, according to a DHE letter dated 7 July 2026. Choice filling was reopened so students could pick Regular Mode, Self-Financing Mode or both.

After graduation: PG admission and CPET

PG admission through SAMS is now based only on the Common Postgraduate Entrance Test (CPET) score, according to the official PG FAQ. The old 80:20 method was dropped. You can apply for up to five subjects and lock up to ten options. As reported, the CPET 2026 result came out on 2 July 2026 and Round 1 PG seat allotment was on 7 August 2026.

Teacher education: B.Ed, Integrated B.Ed-M.Ed and D.El.Ed

B.Ed admission needs an entrance test. As reported, the 2026 B.Ed entrance was held on 31 May 2026 by the State Selection Board (SSB), Odisha, for 2,450 seats. The 3 Year Integrated B.Ed-M.Ed has its own SAMS portal, and D.El.Ed (also called CT) is handled through the SCERT SAMS portal, where the official FAQ says candidates select 68 options.

Skills route: ITI and Diploma (Polytechnic)

ITI and Diploma admissions run on the skill development side of SAMS, under the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education. The official ITI FAQ lists a Rs 100 CAF fee (orphans exempt) and a minimum of five options. For Diploma, the 2026-27 draft brochure says admission is by merit in the qualifying exam with no entrance test, and +2 Science (PCM), +2 Vocational or 2-year ITI pass-outs can join the 3rd semester through Lateral Entry.

How to start, step by step

1. Get your result first. Download your marksheet from the official board link. You will need the marks to fill your CAF.
2. Open the official portal. Type samsodisha.gov.in yourself. Do not trust links in forwarded messages.
3. Choose your course. Look for the tile for your course, for example Higher Secondary School (+2) or Degree (+3). Menu names can change; if the screen looks different, read the notice on the portal.
4. Register with your own mobile number. You will get an OTP. Never share it with anyone.
5. Fill the CAF and options carefully. List colleges and streams in your real order of preference.
6. Pay only the official fee shown on the portal, if any, and save the CAF print-out.
7. Check your status on the official portal on merit list day, and report to the college with original documents in time.

The SAMS home page lists the helpline 155335 and the toll-free number 1800-345-6770. The official +2 FAQ also mentions the Sanjog Helpline, open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm on government working days. Stay safe during admission season:

• Never share your OTP, password, Aadhaar or bank details with unknown callers, including people who say they are from SAMS or a college.
• The official +2 FAQ says selection status is sent by SMS, email and WhatsApp, and there is no postal intimation.
• Ignore agents who promise a seat or higher marks for money. In 2023, as reported, admissions made directly by colleges outside the SAMS list were treated as null and void.
• Beware of fake websites and fake result links. Start from the official portal or board site every time.
